To The Zoo!

Today we took our trip to the zoo. We had it all planned out that we’d take two cars and Mac and I would leave for Madison from there, which worked, but with a glitch - I forgot the diaper bag at home and we had to go back before even getting there! 
Besides that, the day went very smoothly. Mac seemed to like having the freedom to walk around the zoo (most is inside) and pull us where he wanted to go. He is still very interested in all things water but also loved the other animals - the ones that move! He smiled big at the monkeys, bear and otters too! We walked around for a couple of hours, seeing the Discovery Bay area (water) and the Tropics Trail, then we had some lunch, then finished up on the Minnesota Trail before heading out at around 1:30. That was a long day for Mac who usually naps by 11:00, which was the plan… get in the car for a 4 hour trip tired…
Mac did a good job on the car ride to Madison, though not sleeping most of the trip as I expected and planned! I should have known better than to try to plan like that… He woke after only 45 minutes then got restless after an hour. We stopped at a rest area so he could get out and run around a bit then got back on the road with a bottle. I thought for sure he’d go back to sleep but he never did! I had an arsenal of toys and books to hand back to him as needed and didn’t have to go through but four or five, so I’d say it was a successful trip! He only had a few cranky moments which were stopped with a new toy being passed to him. He was occupied for longer than I expected with just a book!
