Last Hurrah?

This weekend went with Jane, Jodie & John to Green Bay for my last Packer game before Baby. Jeremy and I agreed that if the doctor said I could go, I would, but if by some miracle they play in Green Bay next week (the Cowboys would have to lose), I’m not planning on making the return trip for the championship game. The doctor checked me Thursday and said I’m doing nothing and could go. We headed out of town at 7:00 yesterday morning and were surprised to be joined by quite a few cars heading that way from Minnesota sporting Packers gear. We were VERY excited and cautiously optimistic.
I wasn’t exactly looking forward to the hours in the car, being that I’m pretty much uncomfortable in any position these days, but it wasn’t terrible. During the game I was understandably distracted, and Jane was very helpful when it came to all my clothing layers limiting my movement even more, including helping me take off my wool socks after the game - I couldn’t bend over on my bar stool at Curly’s!
The forecast for the day was low 30s with a 30% chance of precipitation, but… as soon as we came upon the Lombardi Avenue exit, it was snowing. And the snow continued throughout the game and overnight! The game started out not so great with the Packers falling behind 0-14 in the first 4 minutes. But the rest of the game was the opposite with the Packers dominating on both sides of the ball, ending with a 42-20 victory to advance to the NFC Championship game next Sunday. We had a great time, and the snow was just incredible. It wasn’t all that cold, and in spite of the fact that at times it was tricky to see the field through the think flakes, we were pretty comfortable. I especially enjoyed the half-time show with the UW-Madison Pep Band.
We even got to stay for “Packers OT,” the post-game radio show that broadcasts from Curly’s Pub at Lambeau Field (I often listen on-line to the local Milwaukee show). Jodie left the game a little early and got seats right up front for us! The special guest was Ryan Grant who had a spectacular game after a scary start. With the snow and they way the game turned out, and being able to stay for the post-game show, we all felt like we were in some kind of dream - it was terrific!
