Mac-Speak

Mac’s speech has been really developing lately, and it is super fun to watch him learning. There are some things that are especially cute…
Several weeks ago, I was giving Mac some carrots and dip that Jane had brought left over from a church function. I put some of the dip on his plate, and he tried it, but he said he didn’t like it. Then he kept asking for something, sounded like “black dip” but I couldn’t figure it out. I asked him to show me, if we had it, so he did. Later I figured out he was saying “track dip…” See the “tracks” in the picture?
A couple of weeks ago, I was having some Hershey’s kisses while working on the couch in the living room. The kids were napping. When Mac woke up, he came out and sat with me, and he saw the candy. I can’t remember exactly how the exchange went, but he asked for one, and I said something like, “do you want one or two kisses?” and he misunderstood and thought he had to give me two kisses to get one piece of candy. He gave me two, I gave him one, and the next time he wanted one, he said, “more those please, two kisses?” and he gave me two kisses. How can I argue? And no, I’m not going to correct him!
Last week I was having chips and dip, and he asked for some but didn’t want the dip I was having. Instead he wanted “cow dip…” Makes sense, right? Why call it sour cream when it clearly is cow dip?
