I’m finally getting around to writing Vivian’s 9-Month post…  Her doctor visit was on the 9th, about a week late, and now I’m even later getting this post written, but I can only do what I can do… The last time I had a chunk of time to sit down and write, I realized our domain (elferings.com) had just expired, so I ended up using the time to get that renewed.  But here we are!

Vivian’s measurements are not in as high percentiles as they have been, so she’s slowing down some in her growth.  She’s 20 pounds even (70th percentile), 28 ½ inches long/tall (75th percentile) and her head is 17 ¾ around (80th percentile).

She’s right where she should be as far as development, maybe even a little ahead.  She has not made any more big milestones but continues to cruise the furniture more and more and can pull herself up on just about anything now.  She will sometimes wave, and we’re starting to sign with her at mealtimes.  She has also almost mastered “nuk out” when we take her out of her bed – if we wait at the side of the crib and say, “nuk out,” she’ll take it out and drop it in her crib.  Sometimes we don’t even have to say it anymore, she just knows.  She also responds more to her name and “no” – something I’m sure we’ll be saying a lot with this one… she likes to get into everything!

Vivian is really developing a personality these days, and most of the time she’s happy.  She certainly reminds us she’s around with her voice – we are hoping the screams and squeals soon turn into nice gentle words… the volume can be a bit much for her brother (and her parents)!  Some say she is just conjuring her inner-diva.  Oh Lord, help us!  Vivian is getting better at entertaining herself and playing on her own, which is both good and kind of sad, seeing the first steps in her independence.

Just as I can remember with Mac, as we get used to a “routine” with her, something changes.  She’s now eating three times a day (a LOT), nursing morning and night, and napping usually three times, with the middle nap being much longer than the other two.

I’m afraid I don’t have many pictures to include in this post – the one above was taken when we tried on her snowsuit in preparation for being outside and not having to be in her carseat but rather a regular stroller where she can look around.  Seems the only time the camera has come out recently is to document the progress on our bathroom remodel project.  We’ve been stuck in the house on most days as the weather still isn’t quite nice enough to go to the park, and we haven’t really taken any trips either.  That will all change soon as we head to the Kalahari resort in Wisconsin Dells for a few days next week, then to Madison for the remainder of my spring break week!
