IMG_5085Where did December go?  Somewhere in there I had a few days off from work and I think there may have been a couple of holidays, and now it’s all back to a new routine.  But this past week we have seen some amazing developmental changes in Vivian – just about one every other day since the 26th.  She had been starting to crawl better, scooting and just starting to actually move forward on her hands and knees starting on the 26th.  On the 28th, at one point she was scooting on her tummy, and when I turned my back for just a second and turned back around, she was sitting up!  She mastered that skill in just a matter of days, and before long she was working on her next.  On Monday the 3rd, she was starting to pull herself up on our fingers, and by Tuesday when I got home from work, she had pulled herself up on a toy box (evidence submitted at left).  Eeks!!

We had an amazing holiday season.  We were able to spend time with family, with our traditional Christmas Eve at Jeremy’s mom’s and me directing the children’s choir at St. Peter’s.  Christmas day we spent as our family of four in the morning, opening gifts and having a yummy breakfast made by Jeremy.  We enjoyed a relaxing day and were joined by my sisters and their families later for more relaxing, movies, games and of course lots of food!  Sunday, we headed out to Big Lake for the annual Elfering Christmas party with Jeremy’s dad’s side of the family.  Mac and Vivian did very well, and it was great to catch up with some family members we see only once a year.  Monday, Jeremy celebrated his birthday with a dinner and movie with his friends, and the kids and I spent the day with Jo and her kids (and I finally watched the Packer game from Sunday).  Wednesday, my parents and sister’s family from Madison arrived, and it was more fun, playtime and entertaining at our house for the rest of the weekend.  IMG_5065 Saturday started with everyone at our house for Gram’s pancakes, and then our Bleifuhs family Christmas before the Rose Bowl.  The game was a disappointment, but I think we all had fun… and food, food, lots of food!  Sunday was back to basics as the company departed and we all gathered for a “normal” football Sunday.  This time “Mommy’s Packers” didn’t disappoint!!  :)

This week is back to the grind, but we’re getting used to a new routine now.  With my sister closing her daycare, we have changed things up a bit.  She works her new job starting at Noon, so she is able to come to our house in the morning to be with the kids.  She has been extremely helpful in this transition, and as difficult as her transition is for her, we are thankful it is working out that she is still such a huge part of Mac and Vivian’s lives.  Another big change to our schedule has been my work schedule.  Starting this week, I am working 30 hours a week instead of 40, and I’m spending about one-third of that time working from home.  I go in until 11:00 a.m. and fill in the remaining hours as they fit into our day.  Today (Wednesday) is the first day I was able to work a solid two hours while both kids napped.  We’ll see how it all ends up after we’re a couple of weeks into it!

I’m finding there is still not much time to blog, but there are many videos waiting in the wings to be edited and posted, so stay tuned.  I am managing to keep up with uploading photos at least once a week or so.  Make sure you check out the ones of our family photo session!  We finally posted those now that the “surprise” Christmas gifts have been opened.  We had a great time with our wedding photographers from Iris Photography – they are amazing and a fun couple to work with.  They really captured our family and left us with some amazing photos and memories.  I posted my favorite 124 out of the 600 or so they took.  ;)
