Five Months Old

Oh my goodness, where does the time go? I don’t remember if it was the same with Mac, but I feel like I can really notice Vivian growing, almost daily.
As you can see from her 5-month photo, Vivian is starting to sit up by herself. We tried worked on it while in Madison last week, and in the span of about 4 minutes for our “photo session,” she only fell over twice. Pretty good!
Besides that, Vivian is working on getting her nuk in her mouth the right way, and struggling with letting go and keeping it in her mouth. But she is making progress. She is very active and loves to be moving. She’s able to grab her toys much more intentionally when playing on the floor. She likes to cuddle but also seems to like her personal space. She’ll tell you when she’d rather you put her down, on the floor or in her bed. She’s still VERY social. And a huge flirt. Mommy and Daddy’s reaction? Uh oh.
Vivian is still a very good eater and sleeper, and we’ve finally gotten past the bottle issues! Our week in Madison (along with the patience of Jo on several Sundays before) proved to kick that problem. She took a bottle right away our first day from her cousin Matthew, and from there on out it was smooth sailing. She’ll even take a bottle from ME now!
She is quickly growing out of all of her clothes – perhaps that’s why I notice it. All the cute outfits I would have loved to have her wear just a few more times… it’s sad to pack them away, but I just unloaded the next bin of bigger clothes, and now I have lots more to try out for her!
Oh, and she likes to spit (her food out at me). This is a new phenomenon this week. Hopefully it will be as short-lived as that screaming-bloody-murder phase.
As she gets more mobile, her brother is beginning to notice her more. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. Most of the time he remains indifferent to her – unless she grabs his toys! Coincidentally, he has just started a new word… MINE. That should make for an interesting next several months. He is still quite helpful and is polite about asking us to put her down or give her to someone else, so I’m hopeful that it won’t be too bad.
She likes to cuddle with her “buddies” near her face when she’s falling asleep. CUTEST thing. But because of that, we have to check on her often… here’s what we find:
