Baby Vivian: Day 3

Posted By on June 5, 2010

A much better start today!  Vivian ate and slept well overnight, and I slept well too.  After her 4:00 feeding, I had Jeremy get up to help me get her ready to take her back to the nursery.  I walked her there myself this time to get moving a bit.  I knew that if I had any hope of going home today, I had to give myself the best chance at feeling good.  I slept until about 6:30, rested some more, then decided that since they would probably be bringing Vivian back to eat around 8, I would get up and walk to go get her from the nursery myself.  After a much better night’s sleep, I felt like a new person!

As we got back to the room, my breakfast arrived.  Vivian was agreeable to sleep while I ate, then I fed her.  And from there it was kind of a waiting game for the doctors to come and check us out to see if they’d let us go home.  Mom and Dad brought Mac by around 10:00, so he played in the room with us and continued to be good around Vivian.  Both of our doctors were satisfied with releasing us, as long as Vivian had a follow up in the clinic on Monday (too much weight loss, just like Mac).  Yea – let’s get outta here!

My nurse was very concerned for me though, that I would not rest and relax as I should at home, and I assured her I have lots of hands and have no problem sitting still and letting people help me.  She made sure to remind me several times over the next hour or so before we left that I should make sure I rest.  I told her nothing against the hospital, they’ve been great, but I’d rather be at home.

Jeremy started the process of taking stuff out to the car, and the paperwork got processed more quickly than I could have hoped.  I got all my prescriptions and instructions, I got dressed, we got Vivian dressed, and Jeremy brought up the car seat and fitted it for our little bundle.  Mac only threw one fit as we were leaving…  HE wanted to carry Vivian’s car set!  We told him he could help Daddy, and after some convincing, that seemed to be enough.  And the precious unexpected moments keep coming.

With just a short stop at the pharmacy, we headed home together as a new family of four.  Mac watched out for Vivian in the back seat – he is the only one who can see her since she’s in a rear-facing seat next to him!

Begalkes came over later and planned to make dinner for us.  I fed Vivian, had some lunch then actually went to bed and took a nice nap while everyone visited and took care of the kids.  Wolfgrams came over for dinner also, and we enjoyed a great meal all together!  Vivian and Mac both had lots of attention, and I did just as directed – rested.
