15 Months Old

I know this post is almost a week overdue… but here it is, finally.
Our little guy is an absolute delight these days. He is still learning at an alarming rate, and every day is a new adventure. He loves to play outside – and I mean LOVES it. I guess that’s pretty common among toddlers. We do need to teach him his limits, though, as I get more flowers planted and he can no longer play in what is now being referred to as “Mommy’s dirt.” We filled a little sandbox I was fortunate to find at the BT rummage sale, and he loves to play in “Mac’s dirt” too. We are also working on the word “stop” rather than “no” so he knows how far he may wander.
New Signs!
Mac has started signing more, which we hope will help in our communication. He really doesn’t whine too much, for which we are both very thankful, but this should help even more. He finally came back around to signing “all done” at the end of a meal, and the throwing of food on the floor has become less common. He still does better when we are all eating together. And just last night, he started signing, “please” for us! Jeremy said he did it again this morning.
Check-Up
Mac’s 15-month check-up went well yesterday. He weighs a little over 27 pounds (80th percentile), is 31 inches long (50th percentile) and his head is 18.5 inches around (80th percentile). He may finally be growing into that big noggin! No worries as far as his health and development, though his doctor did seem a bit surprised he wasn’t saying words yet. But as long as his comprehension seems ok, which it does to us, she wasn’t worried. We figure if he can hear, “put your clothes in the laundry,” or “put your nuk in your crib,” and do it, he’s doing quite well! But we will be more conscious of developing his speech now. He also got two more shots to keep his immunizations up-to-date. He did as well as could be expected with those, given the fact he was more than ready for his nap!
