Happy Birthday to Mac!!

Our Disney Nap-Time Blog for Day 3 doesn’t exist, so don’t look for it.  Jeremy, Mac, Steph and I arrived at Magic Kingdom around 10:00 and rode the Buzz Lightyear ride right away, got Fastpasses for Space Mountain then got Mac some breakfast.  IMG_0510Then we met Mom and Clare at It’s A Small World.  Jeremy was hesitant to ride because the last time he rode it he got stuck on it.  But he really wanted to see how Mac liked it, so he went along with us.  Mac seemed to think it was pretty great.  Then as we came to the end… the ride stopped… we were stuck!  It took about 10 minutes to get going again, so it was not so awful, but we gave Jeremy a hard time about it.

After we escaped the World, we headed back to Space Mountain.  Clare, Steph and I rode while Jeremy and Mom stayed with Mac.  He was pretty close to nap time and looked like he might fall asleep in his stroller, so we decided that if he did, we’d stay at the Magic Kingdom to have more time with Mom and Clare.  And by the time we got out of Space Mountain, he was out cold.  We covered up the stroller and continued on, hoping for the best.  Mom offered to stay with him while we rode Pirates of the Caribbean, then we were all pretty tired, and Mac had woken just before we got out of the ride, so we decided to head back to Clare & Mom’s hotel for a little rest and a snack.  Mac liked the opportunity to wander their nice big room and spend some time with his Nana and Auntie Clare!

After a short rest, we moved on to Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios) where we had dinner reservations at Hollywood & Vine that included priority seating for Fantasmic!  Mac ate tons of macaroni & cheese (we learned on Wednesday he really loves the Disney recipe), then the waitress brought a birthday card and a cupcake with frosting just for Mac!  We let him go wild with it.  Get a load of  the video – it was hilarious and wonderful to see him so happy!

Video Length = 3:29

All of us who were at dinner went to the Muppet Vision 3-D show afterwards, then Clare and the boys tried to use their Fastpass for the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster (but couldn’t due to “technical difficulties”) while the rest of us girls stayed back to hang with Mac.  He was starting to get tired, so we got him changed and got a bottle ready.  We needed to arrive an hour ahead for our seating for Fantasmic, and he did pretty well for a while, but we knew with how little he slept that it was not likely he would make it through the show.  I told Jeremy I’d take him out if that happened since I have seen Fantasmic before.  Mac did start to melt down about a half hour after we sat down, but I walked with him and he fell asleep.

IMG_0533 It was too much to hope for though – just five minutes to showtime he woke up and started screaming.  I left with him, got his stroller, and headed for the bus.  Unfortunately, I went the wrong way!  I had to backtrack after getting to the end of the bus stops and finding that ours was at the end of the other side!  The bus arrived, and even though at that point Jeremy was on his way to meet us, I boarded anyway.  Mac was less than happy, so I struggled a bit trying to hold on to him and the stroller, but we made it.  When we arrived at the hotel, I found that Mac had kicked off both shoes, one sock, and some stuff had fallen out of the stroller.  Ugh… Friday the 13th?  Sure, let’s blame it on that!  Some very nice people helped me pick things up and a couple of ladies helped me unfold the stroller after we got out.  We finally got back to the room, and after a diaper change, getting his jammies on and drinking part of a bottle, Mac seemed very happy to go to bed.  I told him we’d do better tomorrow – and nap in our room for sure!

And even with the struggles, I have to reiterate that we do have an amazing child.  In spite of it all, he really did quite well today with only a little over an hour of nap time in his stroller.
