Fairest of the Fair

Posted By on August 31, 2008

What a good boy.  I can’t believe how many times I get to say that and that I get to hear it from others – what a blessing!

IMG_0068Begalkes picked us up at 8:15 this morning, and Mac had his breakfast bottle in the car on the way to the fair.   He joined us in our typical first stop at Tom Thumb for some donuts – ate two whole ones himself!  SO cute.  Then we made our way to the Miracle of Birth building to see some animals, which he seemed to really like.  He likes anything that moves and was mesmerized by the cow’s tail and the baby goats especially.

IMG_0076After that it was off to more food and the Dept. of Natural Resources building so CJ could see the fish.  Mac had a short nap in his stroller and then a bottle before Jane and Timmy joined us.  Then I think we headed to the fries, and the dairy building for milkshakes and sundaes.  He liked that too but was ready for another nap so got a little fussy.  Jane, Jo and I went to the shopping and creative activities areas while John took the big kids to the midway.  Then we met up at the Grandstand for more shopping while Mac had a bottle with Jane.  After that we were once again off in different directions – mine was with John, Jo & Steph to get some cheese curds (after I finally got my Pronto Pup hot dog) where we all met up again.  I also walked through the agriculture building in hopes of finding some tulip bulbs for my garden, but they weren’t where I remember them being.  By then it was almost 5:00 and clearly time to head home.

IMG_0080Mac had started another nap around 4:00 but was woken up by a band playing nearby, and he wasn’t so happy about that.

He was behaving fine but never did get back to sleep.  We had succesfully seen almost everything we wanted to (we never did make it to Heritage Square) and ate enough grease to harden our arteries and widen our waistbands sufficiently.

We got home a little after 7:00 p.m., and Mac went straight to the bathtub (it was very windy and blowing dirt, plus he had sunscreen on all day), had his bedtime bottle and went to bed.
