Getting Closer

The last two days have been more about finishing than starting. We finished the floor in our bedroom and have closed it off now until we move the bedroom furniture on Sunday. Mac’s room is finished except for getting carpet installed. The only rooms we haven’t touched are the living room and guest room, which will wait because we are using them while we work on the others, and the dining area because there’s just too much traffic right now. We’re also waiting on the bathroom upstairs until we decide what do to about the yucky pink. The current thought is a tub surround and paint on the remaining tile, and a covering for the floor, maybe some more paint on the cabinets.
The kitchen is slowly taking shape as we move more from the condo each day. It’s difficult to plan where everything will go when we’ve had some of it stored, and I don’t even know what Jeremy had before he moved in to the condo! I’m trying to put things away and guess for now with the understanding that it could all change. I’m already running into a space issue with where I had planned to keep all the cooking utensils. While we have lots more cupboard space, we don’t have a lot of drawers, which is where we’re used to keeping the utensils. We will also be able to keep a lot of the extra stuff we don’t use regularly in the bar area downstairs, which should save some space.
Last night we went to the condo to pack up some more stuff then got a much-deserved break when we joined the Begalkes and Wolfgrams for a bar-b-que for Jane’s birthday. We ended the evening with a campfire and s’mores… and Mac enjoyed his first graham crackers. Jane and Jo warned me that they’d be messy, but look at the pictures – I had no idea!! The kid needed a bath before we left.
Before Jeremy left for work today, he went to Home Depot and got a big sheet of melamine to cut to replace the yucky plywood shelves in the linen closet. Shelf paper just doesn’t stick to that stuff! So during Mac’s nap times today, I did some laundry to start filling the new shelves and kept unpacking and washing kitchen stuff.
Tonight I took a break myself and headed back to the condo to watch my Packers with Mac!
