Sky City

Yesterday we toured “Sky City,” a pueblo settled by the Acoma tribe. They built their city on top of a large mesa (flat rock), hauling all the materials up a stone staircase along the side of the rock. It was amazing to not only see the site but to hear of the history and culture of the tribe. We saw things like their stone ovens, mission and worship spaces. Watch here for links to photos and more information when we return home. We had to get a permit for just one camera, so we’ll upload those with all the rest when we get home (or from the airport if possible).
Mac did well once again. He napped a bit and had a bottle in the car on the way there, and when he showed signs of being tired at the beginning of the tour, we put him in his carrier where he slept until the end, even in the hot sun (he was covered) . He was still quite tired when we got back, even after an hour and a half nap in the car, that he took another long nap in the evening. He slept ok last night but woke up for another hour-long playtime in the night, but then he slept until 8 this morning. Hopefully before we leave he’ll sleep through the night! We’ve also had an extra bottle of water with us for him to make sure he stays hydrated.
