Pool!!

It was finally nice enough to go to the pool today! I rested up in the morning (I took a 2-hour nap and almost forgot I was supposed to be hungry), then Mommy got me dressed with my new swim diaper, hat, shirt and trunks. She loaded up some other stuff too, I think. We went in the big boy stroller to the pool just down the path.

When we got there, Mommy took out a big tent-like thing and put me in it to play. She took a long time getting all of her stuff ready, and we moved chairs a couple of times. I didn’t care – I had my own playroom! Man, that thing was cool. It had screens on all the sides, and I could see Mommy while I was inside. It also protected me from the bright sun. I don’t know where she pulled it out of, though, ‘cuz I didn’t see her carrying a tent with her!

P1030129After I played for a little while and Mommy ate her lunch, we finally got to go into the water. They have a kiddie pool here, so that’s where we started (‘cuz I’m a kiddie). Mommy got in with me and held me the whole time. She put me on her lap for a while and lifted up her knees so I’d go in the water and out, in and out. She said it was good exercise, but I think she meant for her – I was just along for the ride. Then she let me stand up, and it was way easier to balance than I’m used to. It was cool. Some bigger kids came in the pool after that, and I was getting tired, so I told Mommy I was ready to get out for a while. P1030137She held me wrapped up in my towel, and I started to fall asleep, so she let me lie down in my new tent for a bit. Daddy came to the pool after I woke up. Then we went in the water again. This time Daddy held me. He let me go in the deeper end of the kiddie pool and even put part of my face in the water. I wasn’t scared at all – it’s like bath time! Mommy also splashed me in the face a few times and said I’d have to get used to it because the kids at St. Louis Park don’t really pay attention as they’re running around. That was ok too.

P1030133 I got hungry after that, so Mommy fed me while Daddy went back home to pick up a few things. Then I sat with Daddy for a while, then played in my tent until I got tired again. Mommy laid me down and helped me fall asleep. I only slept for about 45 minutes, but it was longer than the last time. Mommy and Daddy said I’ll have to get used to sleeping with the kids playing in the background if we’re going to spend more days at the pool.

They said maybe we can practice it again tomorrow!
