Eleven Weeks

Mac is eleven weeks old today.  He is sleeping in his crib now and goes to bed very well for the most part.  He takes a few naps and eats five times each day on a pretty regular schedule.  We are so lucky!  He is happy most of the time unless he’s tired, hungry or uncomfortable.

As he told you, he can hold on to his rattle now, even though we have to put it in his hand.  He can also lift his head when he’s lying on his tummy.  Before, he could hold it up when we put him down with his arms underneath him, but now he can lift it from the floor by himself – I’m not sure how long he’s been able to do this, but I’m just now noticing it.  He’s also starting to bend his knees more when on his tummy and will push off anything put under his feet to scoot forward… yikes!

He still likes to watch the lights on the TV, which we now call his “light box” just for fun, since that’s pretty much all he understands about it right now.  He doesn’t have much interest in toys yet.  He still likes to be wrapped up in a blanket and cuddled to go to sleep but will go to sleep without as well.  Same goes for his pacifier, he can usually take it or leave it but does find it comforting.  He seems to like me singing to him too, which I do every night that I put him to bed.  He likes the giggle sound – it almost always gets a smile from him.

He still has some cranky time in the evening, but once we learned that he’s actually tired, and now that we help him to fall asleep, the evenings have been much better around our house.  That evening nap is the one he fights the most for some reason, but if we’re persistent he’s much happier in the end.
