A New Month
Posted By Jill on March 2, 2008
It’s been a few days since my last update, and we don’t have a whole lot to share, honestly. The kid just keeps getting cuter! He’s more alert for longer each day, and his facial expressions are priceless. This picture was taken by my mom while Mac was getting some “tummy time” on his new fuzzy rug from Grandma Roxi.
Wednesday I had to meet with the music director at St. Peter’s to go over music for the Easter Children’s Choir, so Mom, Mac and I went a little early to introduce Mac to some of the teachers at lunchtime. After that we went to the school Mass at Assumption. Then Mom had to go back home. ![]()
Thursday was Mac’s and my first day on our own since Jeremy had to work all day. I set my expectations fairly low, figuring if I could manage to keep both of us fed and rested it would be a successful day. I was able to do that AND a load of dishes, so I think I did pretty well!
Friday we went to the doctor for another weight check, and this time the news was much better. Mac weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 oz.! Apparently our waking him to eat has done the trick. We are supposed to continue that – every 2 hours during the day and 3 at night – and bring him back next Friday for another check just to make sure he’s still gaining.
Yesterday we had a visit with Joel and Melissa, who stopped by to meet Mac, then we went to church and to a spaghetti dinner fundraiser/service project that CJ’s class organized. That must have been a lot of excitement for little Mac and tired him out, because last night was his best night yet! He ate at 9:00, then we all went to bed. He slept until I woke him at 1:15; I really let him fuss to wake up, and he ate very well. He slept again until I woke up at 6:00 (oops, I guess I missed the timer at 4 hours), but again, he ate well. He was barely sleeping when I put him in his bassinet after that, and I thought he might be up for a while, but he must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I knew we were waking up at 8:00.
Today is a lazy day of relaxing and chores. I’ve even started my first load of laundry in I don’t know how many weeks. With Jeremy being home several days, we’ve managed to keep a handle on most of the chores and keep the house in fairly good order. It kind of helps to know that as soon as Mac goes down to sleep or if both of us are home, it’s time to prioritize what needs to get done, whether it be napping or cleaning!
Speaking of napping, I have been surprised at how well I’ve been able to sleep when I need to. I suppose it might be that I’m just more tired, but as soon as Mac goes to sleep at night, I’ve been able to hit the pillow and sleep. And I’ve been able to nap during the day too. I am very lucky that I’ve had so much help with Mom being here and Jeremy not having to work every day. I’ve told people I’ve probably gotten more rest than I deserve, but it’s all been good for all of us. I know it might not last either, but I appreciate what I have now!
Don’t forget to keep an eye on our Flickr photostream for updated photos. We still try to take a few every other day or so, and they don’t all get used with a blog post.
