Better Nights, Our First Outing, One Week Old!
Posted By Jill on February 20, 2008
The last couple of nights have been much better than Monday. Mac has slept between feedings, and last night even had to be woken up for them! I know this means we are very spoiled, and I’m not naive enough to think it will last forever, but even one or two nights like this intertwined with nights like Monday will be tolerable.
Other than our great night, the only real milestone of the day was that Mac had his first bath at home. He’s had more awake time during the day and is gaining more of a personality every day. I could stare at him forever.
Today we went out to see the doctor and a couple other errands. We bundled up good for the cold! Of course we forgot to take a picture in our rush to be on time. We tried out the new car seat, which Mac seemed to just love. He was a little fussy at first but settled in and was content the rest of the time, even sleeping in the car, thank goodness.
The doctor visit went well. She still has a little concern for his weight, but being that he’s been weighed now on three different scales, it’s hard to be sure. She wants us to make sure he doesn’t go more than four hours between feedings and bring him in for a nurse’s exam early next week to make sure he’s packing on the pounds (or ounces, as the case may be). She said as long as he’s still having wet and messy diapers and has awake times, we really probably don’t have to worry. Other than that, he looks good and healthy and measures 20.75 inches, so he’s already growing!
My amazing mother offered to clean around our house while we were gone… God bless her!! We’ve been so lucky to have the help and support of our family. I can’t imagine having to do this on our own.
Then we went for a haircut for me and on a tech support run for a friend. We’ve been home the rest of the day and had Wolfgrams for dinner (well, they came over and brought dinner and cleaned up…). Mac finally got to meet cousin and godfather Timmy today! He’s had a cold and has been very busy, so he hadn’t met Mac yet. I think Mac likes him…
We’re getting ready to get tucked in for another night – let’s hope it’s as good as the last two.
