The Pursuit of Happyness

Posted By on March 21, 2007

Date night last week was dinner and a movie, The Pursuit of Happyness.  I expected a good movie, but it was better than I imagined.  Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) was a father challenged with one string of bad luck after another, but he rose above it all.  One line towards the end of the movie stuck with me, when Chris tells us that in his childhood, whenever he got an A on a test, he thought about how he could be so many great things, but he says that he never became any of those things.  All I could think about was that he displays so much that can not be taught in school: perseverance, work ethic, loyalty, honesty, honor…   He has taught his son all of these things, on top of never letting anyone tell you “you can’t” do something you dream.

I would recommend this movie to anyone – it’s a “buy-it” movie for us!
